About KCAL
The Keller Center for Advanced Learning (KCAL) gives students opportunities to pursue advanced coursework in their chosen areas of interest. The program emphasizes hands-on learning through field-based experiences. The program culminates in a senior practicum that integrates real-world applications.
By fostering strong partnerships with local businesses and community organizations, KCAL helps ensure students receive valuable insights and mentorship from industry professionals.
Students at KCAL can engage with Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO), further enhancing their learning experience. Additionally, participants have the chance to earn certifications, licensures, college credits, or certificates within their field of study. This training helps prepare them for future academic and career success.
KCAL’s innovative approach equips students with the skills they need to thrive in a competitive global society.
The KCAL Plumbing Program
The KCAL Plumbing Technology program gives students the knowledge they need to pursue careers as plumbing apprentices, building maintenance technicians, or supervisors. This program lays the groundwork for students considering further education in fields such as construction management, architecture, or engineering.
Through hands-on instruction and real-world applications, students learn the fundamentals of workplace safety. They can learn proper hand and power tool use, and the program equips them with essential plumbing mathematics.
Students are also trained to utilize a plumbing code book effectively. This skill is critical for meeting industry standards and regulations. Furthermore, students develop proficiency in identifying, fitting, and working with various types of piping materials. They work with plastic, copper, cast iron, carbon steel, and corrugated stainless steel.
With these practical and technical skills, students are prepared to meet employer expectations and succeed in a dynamic and growing industry. The KCAL Plumbing Program empowers students to build promising careers and contribute to their communities.
